Join Global Counsel for a discussion on the attitudes of consumers towards the regulation of the metaverse Thursday December 1st.
The ‘metaverse’ term was coined thirty years ago, and until recently was part science fiction, part speculation. But with Facebook’s recent rebrand as Meta, an increasing consumer acceptance of virtual interactions post-covid, and a steady uptick of interest from new sectors (ranging from retail to public services), the metaverse suddenly seems very real.
Against this backdrop, Global Counsel has commissioned exclusive polling of the US public to understand what they think about its benefits versus causes for concern, and how these ought to be regulated. Â
The event will feature Tom Wheeler, former Chairman of the US Federal Communications Commission and now CEO of Shiloh Group; Avery Gardiner, Chief Counsel for Competition & Tech Policy, Sen. Klobuchar, U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee; and will be convened by Conan D’Arcy, Senior Practice Director and GC's global tech policy lead.Â
Please note this event will be held under Chatham House rule.
Global Counsel works with companies and investors across a wide range of sectors to anticipate the ways in which politics, regulation and public policymaking create both risk and opportunity – and to develop and implement strategies to meet these challenges.
From high-level in-conversations and policy webinars, to large scale conferences, our events draw from a network of government, industry, academia and civil society to foster debate and discussion.
